My name is Blaise, founder of NUGENK9 Training, and for over five years, I’ve been helping dogs and their families build strong, positive relationships based on trust and mutual respect.
My journey into dog training began as a self-taught enthusiast with a deep admiration for canines and a fascination with their behaviour. What started as a fun hobby soon grew into a passion when I began working with my own dog, Malaika, a spirited chow-mix who remains a star in many of our training videos. My curiosity about how dogs learn, how to teach them new skills, and how to integrate these skills into everyday life fueled my desire to learn more. The journey continues with our very own boisterous and very sharp Shujaa, my Rottweiler whom you’ll see often too.
To deepen my knowledge, I pursued formal education in dog training. I completed a short course, the Certificate in Crucial Concepts in Dog Behaviour and Training, hosted by the renowned Ian Dunbar. Building on this foundation, I earned a Diploma in Progressive Dog Training (PDT) through Pet Sense College in South Africa, and later to further elevate my skills I earned a Higher Diploma Progressive Dog Training.
At NUGENK9 Training, we use reward-based methods to encourage desired behaviours, creating a fun and stress-free learning environment for dogs and their families. Our training is force-free and tailored to the unique needs of each dog and owner. We work collaboratively to design customized programs that align with your goals and your dog’s individual personality and capabilities. Whether it’s obedience, behaviour modification,advanced learning or tricks, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
I work with a collective, which is a team of experienced and qualified PDT trainers who share the same dedication to making training a rewarding experience for both dogs and their families. Together, we strive to build better bonds, foster understanding, and create lasting success for every dog we work with.
